Carroll Shelby, famous American racer and race car builder, took one look at AC's diminutive open sports car with is 2 litre engine and suspected he knew why it didn't go very fast: It needed a more grunt! A tuned V8 engine, huge wheels and wide arches should do the trick. He was right! Later versions had 7 litres for added lunacy.
E-Type Jaguar
